Earlier in the month alan nicholas posted this casting update for Secondhand Lions. It concerned a new cast member, Christian Kane.

Christian Kane Does Screen Business

For a Texas/Oklahoma boy with his own Southern Rock band, the suit-and-tie world has been very good to Christian Kane.
Although Kane has yet to get a starring role in a feature film, he's done many supporting parts, including working opposite Angelina Jolie in "Life or Something Like It," and playing the young Robert Duvall in "Secondhand Lions," written and directed by Tim McCanlies ("The Iron Giant"), due out late this year.
"My hero," says Kane of Duvall. "That's why I wanted to do it. I called and said, 'I want to do this movie, no matter what, whatever you guys got.'"
And Kane got more than he bargained for. This past fall, a stunt gone wrong during production of "Secondhand Lions" left Kane with a twisted knee and stitches in his lip.
"Obviously I'm taking the brunt of it," he says, "but I don't care. I wanted to do this movie with him, and not only am I getting to do this movie with him, I get to play a younger him."
"It's one of my dreams come true. It's one of the five checklists when you move to L.A., I just checked one off."
Taking one thing at a time has become Kane's movie philosophy. "I'm doing all right," he says. "I'm having a good time. I'm not Heath Ledger or Colin Farrell, but I'm just going to keep my little light punches to the belly, and one of these days, you guys are going to duck your hands, and I'm coming up with a right hook and take your head off."
