Not that this has anything to do with the current discussions about the early reviews for SHL... but I do think this is a very nice example of the sort of thing that just naturally follows Haley around.
For those in the Seattle area... there will be this charitable tie-in to the advance screening of "Secondhand Lions" taking place this Saturday (13th). What is interesting is that of all the films available, and more specifically of all the films that have been launched with other young stars... SHL is the film they felt would have the greatest benefit to the program. Hmmm... I wonder why that is...
But... regardless of whatever it is that I may think... this brief announcement from the Seattle Post:

'Secondhand Lions' showing benefits reading program
SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER STAFF
Five bucks and a new or gently used book will get you into a benefit screening of "Secondhand Lions" at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Pacific Place Cinema, 600 Pine St.
All proceeds from the screening will go to Seattle BookPALS, part of a national volunteer program that enlists actors to read to kids at schools, hospitals and libraries.
The coming-of-age comedy, rated PG, is about a 14-year-old boy (Haley Joel Osment) whose mom dumps him in the middle of nowhere with two crazy old coots, played by Robert Duvall and Michael Caine.
**Bonus**
Further research has revealed that Seattle is not the only city involved with this promotion. The BookPALS program is made possible through The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Foundation (SAGF). More information about this promotion can be found at the provided BookPALS link. Here is a list of the other cities involved with this Secondhand Lions promotion on Saturday, September 13th.
**Note: I've done some selective editing because I don't think it is appropriate for me to list the contact information for the people involved with the program in the various cities. The detailed information can be found at the BookPALS website.
